Bhavani's Prasannalaya came into existence in 1990 as homage to Bhavani's guru. Without any larger end in mind she began training small children in bharatnatyam and Carnatic music. The first step on the journey towards excellence was taken with five students in a thatched shed within the family compound in Chennai. It was truly a modest beginning.
Bharatnatyam, an age-old art form now being taught to children in today’s day and age was an interesting story by itself. Hence, the visual representation of the institute, we thought should be a contemporary approach to a traditional symbol.
The lotus is to the East what rose is to the west. The tenderness and peacefulness it expresses while moving through murk fit perfectly for Prasannalaya.
